Beckons has received approval to build a new ultra-luxury lodge adjacent to Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa – the most intimate way yet to experience one of the world’s most sacred landscapes, and the first new build for the portfolio since the brand’s March 2026 launch.
Plans have been approved following ecological, heritage and sacred sites assessments and consultation with Traditional Custodians*. Further details, including the lodge name and opening timeline, will be announced as construction plans are finalized. Construction of this new luxury lodge is planned to begin in the next few months, with an estimated opening in early 2028.
The new lodge will be an intimate nine-suite retreat set low in the dune landscape adjacent to Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park, with unrivaled views of Uluṟu from every suite; from the end of the bed, or from the cool sanctuary of a private plunge pool. The closest luxury accommodation to Uluṟu, the new retreat brings a distinct dimension to the Beckons’ presence in the Red Center a short distance from the acclaimed Longitude 131°: more intimate in scale, architecturally immersed in the dune landscape, grounded in a genuine First Nations cultural exchange and offering a highly personalized, guided experience of Australia’s extraordinary outback.

Eight Desert Suites and one premium Desert Pavilion make up the intimate nine-suite retreat. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame uninterrupted views of Uluṟu. Outside, private plunge pools and daybeds invite guests to remain in the landscape long after sunset – beneath the vast night sky that has oriented people here for millennia.
The architecture, conceived by JAWS Architects, responds to the land. Ironbark timbers, rammed earth walls, Corten steel and red marble from the Pilbara establish a design language that is unambiguously of this place. Individual pavilions follow the natural contours of the terrain, each oriented toward Uluṟu, partially constructed off-site to sit as lightly in the landscape as possible.
Shared spaces include a restaurant, lounge, bar, wine cellar and boutique, complemented by an infinity pool with commanding desert and sky outlooks.
First Nations artworks and artists will be central to the guest experience. For each suite, a unique work has been commissioned from an individual artist interpreting Kungkarangkalpa (Seven Sisters) – a spiritually significant Aṉangu Creation story told in the stars above the Central and Western Deserts. Partnerships with art centers and makers across the region, including Ernabella Arts, Tjanpi Desert Weavers, Tjala Arts, and the APY Art Centre Collective, reflect the lodge’s commitment to genuine, mutually beneficial cultural exchange.

Beckons CEO Michael Crawford spoke to what this locale demands of the brand.
“At Beckons, the most memorable journeys are those that create a genuine connection to place. At Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa, that means offering guests personally guided experiences that reveal the ancient stories of Country and sky, and the enduring cultural significance of this extraordinary landscape.”
“Through time spent with expert guides and carefully curated encounters, guests will be invited to engage with the natural wonder of the Red Center and gain a greater appreciation for the stories, landscapes and living heritage that make this part of Australia so remarkable.”

The new build expands Beckons Australian portfolio alongside Southern Ocean Lodge, Longitude 131°, Capella Lodge, Silky Oaks Lodge, and The Louise, and reinforces the growing platform behind Huka Lodge in New Zealand, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge in Canada, and Tierra Atacama and Tierra Patagonia in Chile. Looking ahead, Beckons aims to expand beyond Australia, bringing its signature luxury lodge experience to new destinations across other continents.

*Beckons acknowledges the Aṉangu as the Traditional Custodians of Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa and pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging. Thorough ecological, cultural and archaeological assessments have been undertaken as part of the development approval process. Traditional Custodians, through Yulara Aṉangu Corporation (YAC) were engaged in and endorsed the survey process. YAC is the governing body representing the Aṉangu Traditional Owners connected to Yulara. The corporation exists to support Aṉangu communities through social, cultural, and economic development, prioritizing education, training, and Aṉangu enterprises. On that basis the project is clear to proceed on the environmental, sacred-site and heritage fronts, provided the certificate conditions and the recommended ecological mitigations are carried through into construction.
